Something about the sunshine and warm breeze makes me in the mood to make jewelry.  I love to use nature as my inspirations.

The coral necklace was inspired by a large Bougainvillea plant in pink.

Cinco De Mayo 2014!

ScreenHunter_19 Apr. 30 12.55

Cinco De Mayo is Monday, May 5th. I am Mexican, German, English, Irish, and Spanish, so I love the plethora of celebrations throughout the year! Famous for backyard bbq’s, vibrant colors, loud music and celebration, Cinco de Mayo”the Fifth of May,” is a Mexican Holiday that actually celebrates the Battle of Puebla. This battle took place on May 5, 1862.

Make/Decorate Cards with Scrap Paper

Making your own cards is such an awesome way to inspire someone, cheer someone up or simply let them know your thinking about them. Everyone loves to receive a card and if your like me you probably have tons of scraps somewhere.

What better way to use them up than to make cards!  I try not to throw anything I can use in a later project away, which means I am always looking for ways to use up old scraps of paper!  I made a bunch of inspirational cards last year, it was really fun, and it was a great way to use odd scraps.

Here are a few ideas to get those creative juices flowin’!

A New Finished Project!

A New Finished Project!

I had this round white canvas and this extra pocket. I had no idea how this was going to turn out. I had no plan in mind, but I actually really like how it turned out a whole lot. The beads were the best touch, it looked really unfinished before. The beads also really brighten the whole thing. I love how little touches make a big difference.

Would you like to own it? I am selling it here —> https://www.etsy.com/listing/182339541/beaded-canvas-wall-pocket?ref=shop_home_active_4

Well Owl Be! Make Your Own Wall Decorations

Making your own wall art is fun and easy!
Materials Needed:

  • material
  • canvas
  • paint brushes
  • turpentine (if using Oil)
  • Mod Podge
  1. Gather your materials.
  2. Make sure your canvas is clean, if you notice any dust or dirt give it a wipe.
  3. Start with the oil paint. The owl canvas is painted simple black, but you could depending on your fabric create awesome backgrounds.  I love the richness of oil paint, but it is serious stuff. It is slow drying so you can add colors and mix colors.  It does however, take a while to dry. So if you are using oil this process is going to take days rather than hours.
  4. While drying find your fabric and cut out some designs.  Trim any fly away treads. I cut out an owl
  5. Brush the Mod Podge over the fabric cut outs and apply to the canvas. Once placed on the canvas brush the Mod Podge over the top of the fabric.
  6. Let dry.
  7. Once dry, spray with sealer.
  8. Let dry.
  9. Once that is done, I added the small rhinestones with more Mod Podge.

Dylusions Spray Inks by Dyan Reaveley and Ranger

For Christmas I was lucky enough to receive the full set of 18 Dylusions Ink Sprays, and I have to say I love them!!! Not a day has gone by that I am not covered in colors and happy as a clam about it. These inks have so many possibilities and are so much fun. Thank goodness they are super easy to get off with water if you accidentally *ahem, spray your floor counter and toaster oven, Tee Hee. My boyfriend is very tolerant.

If you have been curious or have never heard of these sprays you should absolutely check them out.

Here is the very first thing I made….

Bad picture but in real life it looks 3D.

Many more pics to come of my adventures in inks.

OH and on a side note, I don’t usually plug companies unless they really deserve it. I have to say Ranger has the best customer service. They are super nice and have a quick response time.

Who else loves Dylusions? What projects have you created?

Have a wonderful Weekend!

Free Tutorial – Fabric Flower Ring

Hi Everyone!

Time flies! I can’t believe it’s already fall, but the air is cooling down and the leaves are starting to change. Just because nature is starting to change does not mean we can’t appreciate the beauty of nature all year-long. Fabric Flower Rings are a fun way to jazz up any outfit and a super easy project for kids.

Project Title: Fabric Flower Rings

Written By: Brandie Bell

Project Description: Create a fun ring to wear year round with fabric flowers and a little bedazzle.

  • Materials Needed:

  • Fabric Flower

  • Ring Blanks

  • Glue

  • Small fabric bedazzle

Instructions:

   Image

       1. Gather your materials, Fabric flower ring, bedazzle  jewel,  ring blank, and glue.

Image

2. Starting with your flower ring, Remove the stem, then remove the middle plastic piece.

Image

3.  Grab your ring blank and apply glue to the top. Very gently press the flower to the ring. If your flower has more than the layer, glue in between each layer.

Image

4. Add a tad more glue to the middle of your flower and add your bedazzle jewel.
Image

5. Let it dry and you have a fun, year round accessory.

Comments:

You can also make hair clips this same way. Just glue to the clip instead of the ring.

Enjoy!
